After the facelift procedure is complete, you must have a responsible adult escort you home, and someone should be there with you during the first night. Bring a pillow and a blanket for your comfort during your ride home and remember to adhere to all of Dr. Stephen Herring’s facelift recovery instructions.

Considering you will not have eaten since the night before, it’s advised that you eat a light snack soon after your surgery. It is much more important to hydrate with fluids if you are having trouble eating solids. Jell-O, chicken broth and toast are good starters.

During facelift recovery, mild soreness will be experienced. In addition, there may be temporary numbness, swelling and bruising in the surgical area, which are normal parts of the healing process. It is important that you do not apply heat or ice to the area.

Taking Extra Strength Tylenol every six hours is a good start to pain management, but some patients need prescription strength. Dr. Herring can change your prescription pain medication if needed.

Our office of caring professionals will schedule a follow-up appointment a few days after your facelift. For more information about facelift recovery, contact the Fayetteville office of Dr. Herring today.
